 BNM lyer! - by @lbert
  Posted:31/05/2008 - 10:26 - in category: consumer affairs
Bank Negara is already now for years lying through their teeth with inflation figures. They call that figure fucking.
Last year only 3% they say.....rubish 10% will be closer.
This year they say so far only 3% , another big lye, we reached at least already 8-9% in 6 month!
Samples:
Packet of cheese from 7.30 to 9.50
Margerine from 1.20 to 2.10
Milk powder from 24.00 (2.5 kg) to 47.00 !!
potatoes from 1.40 to 2.50
vegy all up by 30-40%
daging lembu from 16.00 to 18.00
pork from 13.00 to 15.00

well you can continue.

Than as a small saver we only get a lousy 3-3.75% for a fixed deposit.
BLR has been raised twice in a years time, banks are making billions on the back of US!!
In any healthy economy fd rates are about 1% above the inflation rate, in Malaysia they are already for years way below the inflation rate!
All small savers are cheated out of their money, while the big boys (banks) get richer and richer.
High time this comes to an end, FD rates have to go up by at least 3-4%, which makes borrowing more expensive.
GOOD, high time the borrowing in Malaysia gets curbed, all and everything survives on cheap loans.
For RM 500.- you can drive out of a showroom with a new car.....ridiculous.
Housingloans are given away as if they are hot-cakes.
Malaysian economy healthy ? My a$$ everything thrives on loans, and we are just waiting for the next economic crises.
Government has no money (all needed to pay dr M's extravaganza projects). Money disappears like water in all kinds of subsidies (petrol, rice, cooking oil you name it). All in all very unhealthy.
And who profits the most of say petrol susidies, right those with their 150-200.000 4 wheel drives that gulp petrol, and the car is bought on a cheap loan!

Healthy all very healthy.....

M'sia still can see Petra Blanca - by @lbert
  Posted:23/05/2008 - 20:37 - in category: general
Malaysia still can have a close view of Petra Blanca (now Singapore) as the Middle Rocks are something like 700 meter from Petra Blanca. See photo below.

Some other rocks (only visible at low tide) remain Malaysian.

Click the photo's for a larger picture
Malaysia lost the island because of its own lack a daisy attitude (nothing new)

Hip hip hurrah... the rock fight ended.

Not so StreamyX - by @lbert
  Posted:20/05/2008 - 14:36 - in category: internet / computers
From The Star:
The Government is well aware of public complaints about the level of service provided by TM Net through its Streamyx broadband.
Deputy Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum said this was the reason why the Government decided to go ahead with the RM15.6bil project to install copper wires for broadband access.
"At present, 48% of households in the country are capable of hooking up to broadband service in the country but many choose not to," he told Lim Guan Eng (DAP - Bagan) on Tuesday at Dewan Rakyat.
Lim had complained that although Streamyx often advertised broadband access of up to 1 Gigabit per second, the service was often slow.

Well if the Streamyx service is so lousy (and it is...) why doesn't the government force them to reduce prices?
Afterall broadband sometimes is worse than dial up in Bolehland

Dr. M resigns from UMNO - by @lbert
  Posted:19/05/2008 - 16:28 - in category: politics Malaysia
Finally.... the cracks are widening. Now slowly the building goes down.
Mahathir resigned from UMNO, and probably many will follow suit.
Pak Tak Tahu got what he deserves, even though Dr.M also has tons of butter on his head.
I do not think the PM will quit voluntary, he probably will try to force new elections, which as a result will have even worse consequences for BN (like loosing Sabah to the opposition).
Thing get interesting on the political front, this is probably the end of all those useless relics like Syed Hamid Alba and many others....
Wait and see.... no more sailing for Pak Tak Tahu for the time being.

 Still not feeling 100% - by @lbert
  Posted:16/05/2008 - 16:41 - in category: general
I think the effects of the chemo therapy start building up.
After the last round now a week ago, i still feel letargic, and very tired.
Read the news and try to stay updated with the world, but sometimes even that is tiring.
On top op that my computer went bezerk for one or other reason and had to reinstall the whole XP + many programs.
Seems now it is ok again. The machine is fast and the internet not sluggish anymore, must be some driver errors.

 Rice shortage. - by @lbert
  Posted:12/05/2008 - 08:28 - in category: general
Shortage of rice in Malaysia.... can you imagine? Well the answer is YES!.
For years and years the contractors prefered paddi fields for city expansion, instead of using unarable land.
Padi fields are so easy and cheap to them.... just fill it with a layer of tanah merah, and you can start building and filling your pockets. Whereas other land quite often has to be levelled and takes a lot more money to prepare it for construction.
Here in Kedah around Alor Setar, Sungai Petani, even Guar Chempedak and Yan, thousands of acres of arable padi field became a 'taman' through the greed of contractors and a government (town council) that gives a damn.
So now you have the result there....no stupid Pak Tak Tahu story will help here....
Gone is gone, and it still goes on....

 Progress in hospital (2) - by @lbert
  Posted:10/05/2008 - 11:10 - in category: internet / computers
Out of the 7 wireless networks the Alor Setar hospital offers, only 1 has connection to the internet the rest is for local use it seems.
But even the single network with internet access has ports for ICQ/MSN blocked. Ports for mail POP/SMTP blocked. So many things a patient cannot do.....
Mail only via webmail... a bit stupid isn't it.
But at least better than nothing, can read papers, and download.
And it all works great on my Asus EEE PC!
Found some handy utilities and use them now.

TM mail quality overseas - by @lbert
  Posted:01/05/2008 - 13:37 - in category: internet / computers
Indonesia is without any doubt one of the countries with the most terrible internet connections in the world!
Via satelite download is mostly ok, but the uplinks are mostly terrible. And of course the champion is the uplink to Malaysia because it involves TM.
Webmail of streamyx is not available in Indonesiia because the TM suckers did not propagate the ip into indonesia.... can you imagine.
You can access pop.streamyx.com to download mail, but caannot send any mail because TM blocks it, even pop b4 smtp does not work.
World class provider TM Malaysia isn't it...... what a buch of real suckers! Even Jaring was always ok in Indonesia.
If you connect to your pop account, you probably have to wade though 100+ spam even though your mail address is nowhere on the net. 50% of spam comes from tm net and its related spam providers.
Why can TM not control this? Terrible, TM stinks 7 miles high.
You complain you get a canned answer (we are working on it) and nothing happens all as usual. What is the use of MMCM? Just being a comission and nothing else... makan duit sahaja!
That was my poison from Indonesia free for TM! SUCKERSSSSS.
