Freedom on the www - by @lbert
  Posted:30/08/2006 - 12:36 - in category: internet / computers
I find the current tussle between Jeff Ooi and the chief editor of The Edge Daily worrisome.
This chief editor is good in twisting words into what he wants to see.
He likes to see Malaysia as a country where any opposition is stiffled the Singapore way,
with defamation suits, bankrupties and you name it.
As an editor he should know that you do not take everyword or phrase literal!
Well is this the way forward?
Jeff Ooi runs a blog and gives people space to give their reactions to what he writes.
This does NOT implement that Jeff Ooi is reponsible for what the reactions contain!
Jeff Ooi wanted to contain some mud-slinging by moderating his comments.
This opens another can of worms, people might see his moderation as selective from his point of view. And worse.... any comment that slips through migh be seen as endorsed!
Raja Petra Kamarudin operates Malaysia Daily without any moderation, so...?
Want to report him to for allowing mudslinging comments?
I also do not moderate, i only require commenters to have a valid email address.
If they use someone else his email address what can i do?
Even and ip says nothing, because ips change by connection unless you have a fixed ip.

I think this whole thing went to far. The chief editor is living in wawasan 1010 and Jeff Ooi is to worried.
High time to push the OFF button!

Not so golden hope... - by @lbert
  Posted:29/08/2006 - 11:48 - in category: environment
Golden Hope Plantations owns a mere 20.000 hectares of land in Kalimantan.
They want to increase the landbank to 60.000 hectares in Kalimantan only!
This means expect the smog and smoke of the burning of 40.000 hectares of land!
Long live the haze.
Look at the profits of these environment destructors here!
The expansion can be financed with Islamic bonds, to unislamicly finish of the remaining orang utangs in Kalimantan.

But are they not right, why should orang utangs be in the forest? They can have a much better life in zoos where people can cuddle them all day and feed them bananas!
Ok for environments sake we make a few rehabilitation centers so tourists can come in.
For the rest Golden Hope can use all the forest to make profit and more profit, and meanwhile suffocate the Kalimantan inhabitants.
Golden Hope is no golden hope but a diamond disaster!
Think about that Datuk Sabri Ahmad.
How much land does Golden Hope have on Sumatera together with Guthrie, Tradewinds? How deeply involved are they there in the destruction of forest?
Can someone fill me in please.....
Just another monster company like Rimbunan Hijau.

Pop artist wedding... - by @lbert
  Posted:29/08/2006 - 11:03 - in category: TV
RTM could not get any pictures of Siti's wedding so instead they showed wedding story of Mawi.
Anotherone i dont like to watch ever since he gave in to PAS demands to perform for a segregated public in Kelantan.
The Siti wedding i watched 5 minutes, all was so white and steril that it looked more like a funeral parlor.
I am still appalled by the cheer waste of money for an affair like this. And Datin Siti had the guts to say it was all 'sederhana'! Sick totally sick.
This showing off of ritches i really hate, and i dont understand why royalty and politicians get themselves mixedup in this extravaganza.
As i said some people hardly can make ends meet, than if you see this.... sick sick sick!
I switched to NTV7 and watched CSI!

Pop artist wedding - by @lbert
  Posted:28/08/2006 - 12:40 - in category: TV
I am appalled by the money wasted on the wedding of Siti Noraliza.
This is more than sick, while there are people in this country that can not even afford a bus ticket!
Also the publicity (exclusive for a huge amount paid) by TV3 is more than sick.
Mind you this is just a pop stars wedding and they make even more puha than a royal wedding.
Something here is very very wrong....It makes me sick!

How small a country can be? Well read some details on the Lina Joy story by IndCoup.
The original posting was here.
Dont forget the comments and see the ugly Malaysian rear its head!
IndCoup latest on it you find here
Rests me to say, that if the emails spread for killing the lawyer, would have contained Ahmad Badawi's face, would the police have been just as quiet?
Sickening those double standards!

That fat one again..... - by @lbert
  Posted:24/08/2006 - 19:11 - in category: politics Malaysia
This woman makes me want to puke!
Now she said:
Malaisia's ruling which requires 30 per cent Bumiputera equity in some businesses has not affected the inflow of foreign investments into the country.
"We are not hiding anything and there are areas you can have 100 per cent equity, majority stake and 30 per cent Bumiputera stake ... those who have other feelings can go elsewhere," she said.
Miss Khairy II, she is to stupid for words. So i refuse to give further comments on these racial comments.
When do they finally dump here thats all i can say!

 Toilet culture? - by @lbert
  Posted:24/08/2006 - 19:06 - in category: general
It is time for a "toilet revolution" to take place in Malaysia, where having clean, comfortable and beautiful toilets is the way of life for all.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said having a clean toilet culture did not only reflect the people's civilization and quality of life, but also went hand-in-hand with developing the tourism industry.

Well Mr Najib it is not only toilets, it is the whole tak-apa culture in Malaysia.
Go to any river / waterfall / beach everything is littered with rubbish.
Cities the same, people should be ashame of themselves. YAK

 Patriotism - by @lbert
  Posted:23/08/2006 - 19:11 - in category: general
After 49 years of merdeka, it seems that the Malaysian government still does not understand what patriotism is.
Silly advertisements on tv on waving the flag are pushed through everybody's throat.
Politicians singing Negaraku like a cracking teapot..... Government officials going around threatening shopkeepers that do not flag....
Do they really think they can instill patriotism this way?
Patriotism is a feeling that people have, not something you can force on people.
And i think that there are many poor people that think, yes 49 years 'freedom' but what has the government done for us in all those years besides filling their own pockets and creating rich croonies.
But even some of the above mentioned people might be patriotic, because its a feeling, not a religion!

 Premoderation Yes - No - by @lbert
  Posted:22/08/2006 - 13:53 - in category: internet / computers
The spat between Jeff Ooi and Mr Gunasegaran of The Sun (NexNews) is actually roll on the floor laughing, if the consequences could not be that serious.
To my opinion this Gunasegaran and NexNews are a bunch of stupid cry-babies and Gunasegaran not totally 'segar'.
This is a bunch of journalists and owners who are way over their expiry date and should be removed from the shelf.
If Gunasegaran wants to moderate his blog, because he only wants comments that HE likes well go ahead, I am not gonna read crap like that.
I prefer spontaneous reactions positive or negative!
If this complaints bureau has balls they kick out the whole thing as irrelevant.
Furthermore i like to add:
Jeff Ooi has NO political agenda, 99% of Malaysian newspapers do!

 Dabong bridge. - by @lbert
  Posted:21/08/2006 - 18:12 - in category: politics Malaysia
The PM attended the opening of the RM30.5mil Dabong Bridge in Dabong near Kuala Krai.
The prime minister said the peoples strong support would be put to use to implement all the plans that had been made.

This thing really pissed me off......
I was in Dabong about three years ago, and the works on the at that time already 3/4 finished bridge were completely halted.
This stupid bridge took almost 5 (FIVE) years to build
Why ... because they picked PAS instead of UMNO to rule Kelantan.
How small can you be. Using polictics as a weapon for distribution of improvement to the country.
Now suddenly they found that the Dabong bridge can be used as a weapon to show the people of Kelantan what BN can mean to them.....
What a bullshit......if i were a Kelantanese i would never never give a vote to BN or UMNO, they simply blackmail the whole of Kelantan!

 Najib..... - by @lbert
  Posted:21/08/2006 - 10:34 - in category: politics Malaysia
"Some of the younger generation today have 'swallowed' so much Western liberal ideology that they have begun questioning the country's policies and laws which they claim stifle freedom", said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The Deputy Prime Minister said they had, in the name of freedom, demanded flexibility in some laws and for the repeal of others.
"But it is these laws and regulations which have ensured that the country remained prosperous and stable all this while."

No Mr. DPM. it is these laws and regulations which have detoriated racial harmony in Malaysia to almost ZIP-ZERO.
These laws have made certain groups intolerant of others, and deny the rights of minorities.
So...do they have a right to demand to repeal them?
Your party has ruled Malaysia for almost 50 years, what have you as a party achieved for your people Najib? Prosperity? Haha dont make me laugh, it is the hard working Malaysians who brought prosperity to Malaysia not UMNO! Your party only created cronyism and corruption and a bunch of Malay jutawan. And the poor still suffer!
Now finally the younger generation does not accept your crap anymore, thats what you are facing now.

 Peacekeeping. - by @lbert
  Posted:20/08/2006 - 19:26 - in category: politics Malaysia
Malaysia will send a peacekeeping force to Lebanon under the United Nations flag despite reservations expressed by Israel.
Lebanon welcomes us. I dont see why a technical reason like not having diplomatic relations with Israel should stop us from sending our troops there,Najib told reporters after chairing a Cabinet committee meeting on tourism here on Thursday.

Indonesia wants to send troops to 'protect' the Lebanese SBY said. They also do no recognize Israel. How can you be a peacekeeper and protect one side only?

Both countries do not seem to understand what peacekeeping here means...

Well I think if you want to send troops to separate 2 nations at war, you have to recognize that the nations exist.
So Malaysia wants to separate Lebanon and a non existing nation (in Malaysian view).
Well that's a big question mark, something to chew on Pak Lah and SBY .

And besides that, wasn't it terrorist minister Syed Hamid Albah calling on the muslim world to send weapons to Hezbollah?
Maylaysia is making itself the laughing stock of the world again.......

 IMP3... - by @lbert
  Posted:20/08/2006 - 10:54 - in category: politics Malaysia
The IMP3 is out. Whether all the nicely planned figures are 'achievable' i doubt.
To much hangs on outside conditions in the world.
BUT... it is the first time the pm properly mentioned the environment!!
Proper measures will be put in place to protect the environment in Malaysia.
Enforcement will be stepped up.
Now let us hope this is not words only, but for one time serious!

Malaysia Rejects Bid To Stop Discrimination System - by @lbert
  Posted:18/08/2006 - 09:23 - in category: politics Malaysia
I found this article by Josephine Rogue on All Headline news.

It is about the fat lady again...., some excerpts:
"If government procurement in transparency is what is required, no problem. But if anybody, the U.S. or anybody, wants to impinge upon our rights to put forward or to implement a particular type of policy, that's no go," she told AFP.
"If anybody tells us we would like for you to change your policy, the answer is a big fat no."

and this
Foreign investors have expressed protest on the transparency in Malaysian tendering processes and the presence of little procurement opportunities.
In response, Rafidah said businesses were free to bid for tenders issued internationally.
"They can argue till the cows come home because we have our own internal policies, which is based on a socio-economic development premise," Aziz said.

Well who is going to benefit most from a free trade pact? For sure not the US!
So Malaysia is holding the losing stick.
When do they dump this fat lady with her big mouth for good?

Those nice Malaysian giants... - by @lbert
  Posted:17/08/2006 - 19:45 - in category: environment
One of the giants in the timber business in Malaysia is Rimbunan Hijau, which practices not particular 'clean' hijau methods in stripping whole islands of there forests.
This company should be called 'FAREWELL TO THE FOREST COMP.'
Overlogging, underdeclaring, smuggling, bribing, polical patronage especially in Sarawak, and even oppression of people through military connections is blamed on them.
They are active in Russia, Papua New Guinea, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Vanuatu, Irian Jaya, and New Zeeland.
The company is owned by the Tiong family, and has strong connections in the Sarawak government and is among others owner of Sin Chew Jit Poh in Malaysia, Hong Kong's Ming Pao and Papua New Guinea's National newspaper.
All allegations against them are always kicked out as biased. Thats why they call them the 'UNTOUCHABLES'.
Read this about this gangster club, you will be shocked!
And the Malaysian government already plays blur for god knows how many years, while Johor port is still exporting tons of ramin every year. Also read about Dr Lim Keng Yaik's laughable roll in this affair.
The damage and other misdeeds read here.
A real Malaysia boleh company!

Richest beggar in Malaysia..... - by @lbert
  Posted:17/08/2006 - 15:38 - in category: politics Malaysia
Khairy Jamalludin said he has become unemployed, with no shares but only debts. Many would like to know how an unemployed can afford, with considerable nonchalance, to incur RM200,000 losses, which he said he suffered when he sold his shares at 65 sen a share when he had bought them at 71 sen a share in December.

This is the biggest laugh of the year!
Khairy has become the richest beggar in Malaysia!
