 Tourist champion... - by @lbert
  Posted:20/04/2004 - 22:11 - in category: travel abroad
The indonesian minister of tourism really did a great job.
Yusri Mahendra i congratulate you for really nullifying the tourism in Indonesia.
At this moment i am in Yoagya and walked all over Malioboro and counted...... 4 tourist.
Isn't that great for a country that is desperate for tourist income. I doubt whether Bali is any better. The new visa regulation is totally ridiculous! RM 160 or US 40- for a 60 day visa.
Go with a family of 4 and you spent $ 160- on visa only. Well Malaysia and Thailand will be laughing, because they will grab the tourist that are no longer in Indonesia.
This is the right way to rebuild the country minister!

 Strangling a state..... - by @lbert
  Posted:15/04/2004 - 17:13 - in category: politics Malaysia
Bn lost the election in Kelatan.
And whatever the comments, fact is PAS won, you like it or not.
A democratic goverment accepts this and knows than that they probably did something wrong, because they were not convincing enough to 'convert' the people of that state.
But the Barisan way is:
We lost so we will stop all funding to you and let you starve!
That is what they did in Terengganu as well, and Kelantan is suffering already for years!
I absolutely am not a PAS fan, but in a democracy, democratic rules apply.
So trying to strangle the Kelantan goverment by underfunding them is shameless, unsophisticated, and stinks like rotten fish.
I have seen it with my own eyes last month when i was in Kelantan.
Near Dabong they were builing a bridge across the Sungai Kelantan.
After 3 years this bridge is still not finished and simply stopped because of no funding.
People have to take boat accross, cars have to drive 50+ km around.
Long live the democratic BN goverment, do they really think that this way they will ever get Kelantan??
Even in spite of all the clownesk and ridiculous rulings of the Kelantan goverment, people will stil vote for them, simply because they are ultimately pissed with the BN goverment.
And that is something i can fully understand.

Even in a next election BN will NEVER get back Kelantan, unless they start treating Kelantan like they treat any other state.
Now suddenly millions can go into Terengganu, what goes into Kelantan... only negative news.
Malaysia a developed nation by 2020?? Forget it... Kelantan is not even developed in 3030!
And even then probably still under PAS.

 Malaysian logic..... - by @lbert
  Posted:15/04/2004 - 10:24 - in category: politics Malaysia
Under the Nep 7-15% discounts are given to Bumiputra house buyers for houses costing 100.000 and above.
In order to qualify for a loan, one must earn at least combined 3000.00 a month.
He and spouse must earn that, assuming the monthly installments (of about RM1,000) to be less than 33% of the salary/combined salaries.
For those who can afford to buy RM150,000, it is ridiculous to give them a discount of 7 to 15%, as these buyers deem to be "well-to-do", earning several times the per capita income of the average Malaysian! (like RM70,000 to 80,000 or more a year!)
The NEP is there to create a more EQUITABLE society, NOT to widen the rich-poor gap, as the present 7% to 15% discount policy would achieve!

Thats my 2 sen of progressing the country

On top of that house prices are going crazy and quality is down the drain.
First world prices, less than third world quality.
All those shit contractors/developers are all out to maximize profits.
They dare to supply 150.000 houses with a RM 25- kitchen.

The greatest show.... - by @lbert
  Posted:13/04/2004 - 20:36 - in category: general
The greatest show in Malaysia today presented their latest action:
Kota Baru municipality issued a blanket ban of mannequins used for merchandise display in business premises under its jurisdiction!

Pas really should go into the Malaysian Book of Records for being the biggest clowns in the country.
After their separate lanes in super markets for man and woman, this is realy great.

Up to Wawasan 1010 with Kelantan, others move forward they move back into the dark past.
This is really malaysia boleh spirit.

Whats up next i wonder?
They will ban ladies' undergarments being sold openly in department stores?
No more coffee lady in the office, have a coffee boy.
The coffee lady should stay at home and breed more PAS members....

 Assets - by @lbert
  Posted:05/04/2004 - 21:38 - in category: politics Malaysia
All the fuss in the news and papers of assets declarations of goverment members....
Useless, as long as they dont have to declare the assets of wife / children and whatever funds they can create.
They simply put everything in the wifes name or one of the children.
Those will not be under scruteny, so it is just another coverup and totally effectless.
But from the outside it looks clean.......

 Penang - by @lbert
  Posted:02/04/2004 - 23:16 - in category: Penang
I had to go to Penang and arrange for a visa for entry into Indonesia.
They charge RM 160- nowadays for a 60 day visa!
Anyway since i was early and had to wait, I went to see the Birmese and Thai Budist temples in Pulau Tikus.
The Birmese temple has a new (how new i dont know it was not there xxx years ago) temple on the side. This one is really fantastic. The wood carvings are amazing and reach all the way to the ceiling.
If you are in the neighbourhood really go and see it it is really fantastic.
Also note the hundreds of small buddha statues placed and lined up everywhere up to the roof. They can be sponserred for a certain amount.
The Thai wat opposite has the largest reclining Buddha and is surely worth a visit as well.
Especially the various Buddha's for all the zodiac signs are very interesting. You can read under every statue what is in it for your zodiac sign.
