Thats real money... - by @lbert
  Posted:30/06/2005 - 14:52 - in category: general
KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) -- The surge in world oil prices helped Petronas record a 55 percent jump in pre-tax profit to RM58.03 billion for the year ended March 31, 2005, from RM37.44 billion in the previous financial year.

This saves the goverment again....they can start milking again. Petronas how bad they run it or how good will it always turn a profit.
Even Khir Toyo cannot finish it because he does not have that many exco's to build multi million bungalows for......
But the current state of the environment i saw in photo's of Selangor on Jeff Ooi's blog are a deep shame for the goverment! Everything turned into a desert. It is really for crying out loud, total environment completely destroyed forever!
And that they call VISION! And the Selangar MB wants to have a party on Selangor being developed....thats a no-brainer.

 Haze again! - by @lbert
  Posted:27/06/2005 - 08:35 - in category: general
Haze from Sumatra fires shrouds Malaysia's Penang island

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysia's tourist island of Penang was shrouded with thick haze on Sunday, probably caused by smoke drifting over from fires in neighboring Indonesia, an official said.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department said that visibility over the island in the country's north was very low at between three and five kilometers.

"The haze is most likely from Sumatra island because for the past few days we have observed hotspot fires there," Ambun Dindanj, a meteorological officer in the Kuala Lumpur bureau, told

AFP.

What do we read in Malaysian newspapers, or hear on the news...?
Yes ZIP ZERO NOTHING

Why not in court - by @lbert
  Posted:26/06/2005 - 15:33 - in category: politics Malaysia
I wonder after the suspension of Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, is vote rigging not a criminal offence in Malaysia?
Than why is he not arrested by the police and charged in court?
Secondly if he bought votes where did the money to buy the votes come from?
To many questions remain unanswered!

 Racist minister - by @lbert
  Posted:22/06/2005 - 14:21 - in category: politics Malaysia
According to the NST:
....Nazri Abd. Aziz, Minister in the PM's Office in charge of Parliamentary affairs stood up and shouted at DAP MPs: "Duduk racist! Duduk racist duduk!"

And he walkes away scott free!
It seems that one portion in parliament can say anything, while others can NOT say a thing.
Big faillure of the Speaker not to reprimand him and force him to excuse.
This minister clearly shows not to know what a minister has to posess to be a minister.
Not the mentality he shows over and over.....
But it seems UMNO members are exempted of acting civilised.
Update:
Deputy minister suspended for 3 month, NO action against Nazri.
Would it not be better to suspend democracy in Malaysia? People cannot even speak out in parliament anymore. I thought parlementarians were voted in to represent people and speak out in the name of the people they represent....

 Thats TV....... - by @lbert
  Posted:20/06/2005 - 20:40 - in category: TV
One of the most interesting programs at the moment on tv i find Step-Forward with Dylan Liong.
It really shows you all facets of peoples 'survival' in this country.
As TV8 says: Be filled with wonders as we search the length and breadth of the country for more insights on how people use the resources of the land to get food and make a living from it.
Well done TV8 really great!

Better than having us staring at stupid UMNO Putra meetings and gatherings of OIC, which probably do not interest a single viewer.

Screenshots has been voted Freedom Blog of Asia !
Congratulations to Jeff Ooi, the man behind it, for this succes.
This is a proof of the power of blogging!
The voice of the people cannot be surpressed anymore in Malaysia.
More vocal voices are needed to press the goverment to transparancy.
Bloggers in Malaysia keep up the good work!

Shah Alam mayor said the city will not now and not ever allow entertainment premises in the city.
Wow that sounds like a taliban from the stone age.
Wasn't Shah Alam the malay city of the future? Wow, real wawasan 1010!
And THIS city + the surrounding state want to celebrate their developed status??
Khir Toyo dont make me laugh.....
Developed with a mayor from Afganistan....

Crime pays in Malaysia - by @lbert
  Posted:14/06/2005 - 17:37 - in category: politics Malaysia
I am totally flabergasted by a decission by the industrial court in the case of 54 indonesian workers who claimed their unpaid wages.
Their decision to dismiss the rightful claim of the 54 workers reeks of bad faith and must be reviewed. Better said IT STINKS!
It is scandalous that the employer MK Land can profit from employing illegal workers, and even more scandalous that this goes unpunished, while the workers who did their job (illegal or not) get zip as payment.
It proves that it is not forbidden to hire illegal worker, just hire them and dont pay them.
After a few month you just report them.
WHERE IS JUSTICE IN MALAYSIA?

Hong Leong that bad? - by @lbert
  Posted:09/06/2005 - 11:38 - in category: general
After reading the comments about share financing i must say that all the goverment based comments are baseless and really crap!
First of all HLB is a private institution, and if they dont want to finance certain shareholdings it is their good right because they have to protect the depositors funds!
Secondly margin financing is the sure way to overheat the sharemarket and is very risky.
Thirdly the sharemarket in malaysia is constantly manipulated by certain people and nothing is done on merit, so in that sence their is nothing new under the sun.
Than as last:
The economy is not a rosy as they try to tell us, the refusal to repeg the ringgit is causing is giant inflation, all imports are 20% overpriced at least. There is hardly any R&D in Malaysian companies, and to many survive on goverment handouts.
conclusion
If the goverment does not like the investers stand on the economic situation, well than the goverment has a problem, not HLB or any investor how small. And of course the investigation will say the market is sound and healthy (as usual)

JPA stinks but MCA stinks even more - by @lbert
  Posted:09/06/2005 - 11:27 - in category: politics Malaysia
It is the usual time of the year where scholarships come out.
There are again 10 known cases of JPA (jabatan perkhidmatan awam) refusing to recognise meritocracy this translates to 40% of topscorers who are deemed not qualified for the JPA scholarship.
This JPA stinks, but i must say that MCA stinks even more for being a political entity and not having the guts to open up their mouth. This party has its ass comfortably in BN and thats where they want to stay not risking anything. What a bunch of hypocrits!
Well another UP for the brain-drain in Malaysia, maybe they can study in Singapore.
In this country the child of a millionair can get a scholarship, but the one who deserves one gets 'batu goreng'

Needles and condoms - by @lbert
  Posted:06/06/2005 - 20:25 - in category: general
It seems that the announcement by the minister to supply free needles and condoms to drug addicts has been turned into a 'hot topic'.
Well its hot for some people without brains who come up with all kinds of silly arguments.
I heards one lady about the cost of this project..... what the heck is the cost of a needle?? And whats the cost of a condom.
In Europe HIV infections among drug users went down with 50% after introducing this scheme. Do you need any other argument?
And many drugusers are the result of other social problems in this country.
And besides that condoms should be given free to the whole population of Malaysia, maybe thats a way to stop the population explosion in Malaysia. Malaysia has one of the highest birth rates in the world!! (More than 2% a year) So Malaysia can use some birthcontrol, as noone can afford 4-6 or more children anymore, let alone give them education.
Dont come with an argument it promotes free sex. Look how many children are born out of wedlock in Malaysia. Sex will happen anyway with or without condom, than better with one i think....

Banks blame syndicates for sharp fall - by @lbert
  Posted:03/06/2005 - 10:53 - in category: politics Malaysia
Another of those crap stories.
Why is the KLSE falling, simply because investors dont trust the whole thing.
Creative bookkeeping, and a undecisive goverment are probably the main reason.
Not willing to repeg the ringgit is another, this will translate into at least 20% inflation, well this is the start, the after-diesel-price increase is also making itself felt.
Stupid decissions get punished one way or the other.

 Thalibanasia - by @lbert
  Posted:02/06/2005 - 18:29 - in category: general
With great interest i read the article by Marina Mahathir in
The Star
It is 100% as it is nowadays.....Malaysia is turning into Thalibanasia.
But Marina does not mention who started this charade, because that was her own father.
He was the one who wanted Malaysia to be an Islamic state and he wanted to be more religious than PAS.
This story seems to me like a rebellion in Mahathirs own nest.
Well its what i said many times, he did the country more harm than good.
After 50 years of independence Malays still cannot (or better said do not want to) stand on their own 2 feet!

 A deviationist teapot. - by @lbert
  Posted:01/06/2005 - 16:40 - in category: general
Coming back from Indonesia, i read that the want to demolish Ayah Pin's teapot and other monuments he created.
It's made by the Sky Kingdom community. Man, I just love the community founder, especially his rojak mix of all religions.
It simply proves the truth is out there, everywhere...
And than call them deviationists, come on Star Newspaper, you call this deviationist, better just say you are playing mouthpiece again.
The giant teapot, a vase, umbrella, concrete boat and a palace are a tourist attraction.
Go to Nong-Kai in Thailand where a 'deviationist' Budhist monk created a beauty of a park with the most absurt statues you can imagine, I loved it!
And he mixed budhism, hinduism, some christian and other things in his giant statues.
HEY COME ON GOVERNMENT LEAVE AYAH PIN ALONE!!
Ayah Pin said that his way of live is aimed at promoting universal unity. (and not a religion!)
Declare his monuments a national treasure, because thats what they are!
Ayah Pin and his creations.

One of the creations in Nong Kai Thailand.
