Chin Peng ultimatum... - by @lbert
  Posted:30/04/2006 - 16:44 - in category: general
Chin Peng send an ultimatum to the government he wants an answer by 28th of May, or will put his case before the International Court of Justice (according to the NST).
I think this country is very good in forgetting but very bad in fogiving.
Dig in the history one time, why did Chin Peng go to 'war' against the government of Malaya, after fighting the Japs for years?
1. Because Tunku Abdul Rahman turned down Chin Pengs demand that there be no police screening of the party's members who turned themselves in to the authorities.
2. Because Tunku did not allow the Communist Party of Malaya to operate as a legal entity.

Does this imply that the objective of the Communist Party of Malaya was not merely the independence of Malaya but a Malaya under communist rule?
Being a recognized party does not imply the above.

Probably both parties have made giant mistakes (even blunders), and Chin Peng is 80+.....
Let Chin Peng come home. Close that particular page of history. Let Malaysia be big in victory and show that they can forgive. Let Malaysia forgive and forget.
How long does Chin Peng has to live longer?

 Internet2 - by @lbert
  Posted:28/04/2006 - 05:52 - in category: internet / computers
By using the light of 10 different colors (wavelengths) instead of 1 the speed of Internet2 can be pushed up 10 fold.
In theory 80 different colors can be used in 1 glass fiber cable.
At present Internet2 is stuck with a speed of 8.8 Gb (YES GBYTES) per sec, a record set last February by the universities of Amsterdam, Tokyo, Seattle and Chicago.
Scientists say they can use the speed for connecting radio telescopes together or for data of CERN in Switserland.
But the scientist hope for even higher speeds, as 8.8 Gb is not enough.
Well for me it is..... a whole movie of hours, download in 2 seconds.... wow that would be something. Now it takes days on our lousy SteamyX!
Imagine 1000x the current broadband speed...

Racist Malaysian viewers are not ready for live parliamentary proceedings, said Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin today.

How about RACIST PARLEMENTARIANS and RACIST MINISTERS, and the circus called Dewan Rakyat Barnum and Baily?

Come on Zam, crap crap crap!

 Not so streamy X - by @lbert
  Posted:26/04/2006 - 12:00 - in category: internet / computers
The quality of TMNuts international connections is disgusting.
Any ping to a website in europe gives 3000-5000 msec. Worse than dial-up.
They rake in millions from users, but refuse to spend a few million for proper international connections. Malaysia is not an island, and we as users have some demands too!!
High time this TMNut monopoly is crashed and they get some fierce competition, even RM 88 for a 1 Mb connection is nowadays expensive, for that price i would expect at least 2 Mb (real 2 Mb) and not a shitty 'best efford' which is worse than a dial up connection.
Shame on you Telekom Malaysia and the minister in charge.

Cookie of his own dough - by @lbert
  Posted:24/04/2006 - 20:14 - in category: politics Malaysia
Dr. M got a cookie of his own dough, his open letter to the rakyat got a gag order from the government. The letter was send to all members of parliament and press.
Well it proves that there is still absolutely no press freedom whats however in Malaysia. All the leading journalists piss in their pants when a gag order is given.
Who is finally the first one to openly defy such an order??
It is high time we get a press rebellion in this country. If all defy i wonder what they want to do... shut down all newspapers in Malaysia?
No they only make a fool of themselves (again).

 Bad-rud(e)-din got slammed! - by @lbert
  Posted:23/04/2006 - 22:54 - in category: politics Malaysia
The New Straits Times newspaper on last Sunday quoted Badruddin Amiruldin, as saying in an interview that "clothes play a part when someone becomes a rape victim."
"Clothes can be indecent, too. That's why rape happens," Badruddin was quoted as saying. The interview did not elaborate on what he mean by "indecent."

The biggest mp idiot spoke again.........
But this time he got slammed by the vice president of the bar council.
The Malaysian Bar Council, which represents about 8,000 lawyers, expressed shock.

"I am speechless when a statement of such ridiculous proportions comes from a representative of the people," its president, Yeo Yang Poh, wrote in a commentary published Tuesday in the New Straits Times.
"It is simply, according to him, a matter of dressing. If he were right, we would have found a complete solution to one of the worst crimes," Yeo wrote. "Just impose a ban on the sale and wearing of indecent attire and rape would no longer happen."

Finally someone who gave the idiot mp a black eye! And it did not need the head of police...

Selangor gets tough... - by @lbert
  Posted:21/04/2006 - 14:41 - in category: politics Malaysia
Selangor is set to implement stern and possibly unpopular measures to stop river pollution and clean up the environment.

This is reported in the Star today.
A bit late don't you think, cleaning up the mess of years of corrupt practices is probably gonna cost a few hundred million at the least.
Preventing from the one dump leaking ammonia is probably already costing millions (they dont mention) They probably have to make a wall around half the dump, all the way passed the ground water level depth.
The environment is to long neglected all over Malaysia. Cleaning up now will probably cost a few billion, waiting any longer....the cost will be in the billions, and very hard to reverse.
But Selangor is a developed state, in a developed state people think developed, but the bad luck is it has a 3rd world Menteri Besar with exco's with deep pockets.......

New version in progress.. - by @lbert
  Posted:20/04/2006 - 18:51 - in category: internet / computers
The new version of PoV is slowly reaching completion.
You will see now a category selection on the left, this will make it possible to select blogs in 1 category only.
This feature can be set on/off in admin section.
I doing the last tests now before releasing.
It is really hell to make everything alike under IE and Mozilla....arrggg, when do we get a real standard?
The pop-up version will be dropped, to much time involved to maintain 2 versions.

 Search monsters... - by @lbert
  Posted:19/04/2006 - 15:13 - in category: internet / computers
I noticed a month ago that the bandwidth use for webrobots (like Google/yahoo and the likes) went up to 11 mB+ a day.
This on a small site like mine was outrageous.
So i checked and found that only Yahoo was responsible for 70-80% of all spidering.
They spidered pages 3-4 times a day and even if you put 31 days or so in the metatags they ignored it.
So the only solution, out with Yahoo, i disallowed Yahoo from spidering my site.
Now bandwidth for robots is back to 1-2 mB a day which is normal, and saves a bundle.

Thoughts about a crooked bridge - by @lbert
  Posted:18/04/2006 - 22:04 - in category: politics Malaysia
The scrapping of the crooked bridge plan made me thinking was this necessary?
Singapore did not want to cooperate, good their right and problem. Of course they dont want the Tebrauw straights open so more small boats can go to Johore.
But that is not Malaysia's problem. Afterall the crooked bridge was gonna be build on Malaysian soil. And if Singapore refused to connect it, than Singapore has a problem, not Malaysia. Afterall Singapore is benefitting big from Malaysian workers and goods.
The opening of the Tebrauw waters would create a more healthy environment than the dead water it is now.
And about the water pipes to Singapore, they get the water so cheap, they should keep their big mouth shut. When Malaysia cuts the water supply Singapore is literally dry, so Malaysia also has something to hold on kiasu Singapore.
And for the changing of the pipes to another location, as dr M said, give them a 6 month notice and thats it.
If Singapore wants to go to international court, let them, i am sure they loose.
So actually there is nothing that should stop Malaysia from building the bridge, whether kiasu Singapore likes it or not.
Give them nothing in return, no airspace and no sand, simply nothing. Dont negotiate any further, because they only want to delay. Just start building!
Thats my idea after i see all the facts, and the costs involved. Now a few hundred million taxpayers money is lost!

 Nazri's maid - by @lbert
  Posted:17/04/2006 - 19:26 - in category: politics Malaysia
Nazri's Indonesian maid today got sentenced to 30 month jail.
How can a case of a ministers stealing maid is pushed through in less than 2 weeks, while other normal cases take years to be resolved.
It smells like class justice.........

Crooked bridge or stupid government - by @lbert
  Posted:16/04/2006 - 18:31 - in category: politics Malaysia
It seems that Pua Chu Kangs boots have landed in Malaysia's mouth.
The piling work for the crooked bridge is already finished at the cost of millions.
The contractor has to be compensated with 100 million because the thing is called off. (This was another of the Tun's Malaysia boleh contracts....)
Who foots the bill? Of course YOU the taxpayer. For the government its semuanya ok....
Shameless and scandalous in 2 words!

 Hatyai Songkran 12-13 April - by @lbert
  Posted:15/04/2006 - 09:53 - in category: travel abroad
I went for the third time to celebrate Sonkran (Buddhist New Year) in Hatyai.
It is really great fun to enjoy this well organized festival in Hadyai.
Thousands of Malaysians also went there so the city was full. Hatyai spends a lot of money to make sure the festival is a great joy.
Podia with dancing, thai boxing, wrestling, music, and of course water which comes in by tanker load by the fire brigade. Penang can learn something here...
Below some impressions of the festivities.

Before going back do some shopping on the market in Hatyai, to many things are to cheap there....
The only funny thing is the Thai customs, you have to pay for stamping your passport on public holidays and after office hours (9-5) a bit funny for a country that loves tourism, but it is probably just pocket money for the customs people.......

 Crooked thinking. - by @lbert
  Posted:15/04/2006 - 09:15 - in category: politics Malaysia
When i was in Hatyai i heard that Malaysia abolished the 'Scenic' crooked bridge plans, citing legal reasons.
So this country is the laughing stock in the world again.
When do Malaysian governments learn to use their brains before they announce all kinds of shitty nonsense and than lateron pretend to stick to it, and than suddenly withdraw.
It is not only the crooked bridge, it is almost everything announced by this government, where it considers/announces plans and laws.
How many laws have been pulled back because they were pumped out to hasty?

This crooked bridge plan also proved the stupidity of neighbor Singapore, who does not want to cooperate in anything.
Now they can go and get sand from where? Indonesia already has forbidden sand exports, now no sand from Malaysia, so go and get it in South Africa or so Singapore! So Singapore loses just as much, projects halted.......no sand.
This was a chance for Malaysia and Singapore to show the world that they really can cooperate and realize a plan. Both failed miserable!!

 Thanks TV8 - by @lbert
  Posted:10/04/2006 - 17:25 - in category: TV
Last night at 18.30 TV8 showed a repeat of 2005 series of Step-Forward.
Great program, now i can see the few parts i missed!
This program with Dilan Liong is far better than Majalah 3 which i think is getting less and less interesting.
The only thing is wished for is better subtitling, which is really lousy (as in most programs).
I think Step-Forward is together with Jangan Ketawa of many years ago, the top of Malaysian productions!

 Complaints ombudsman. - by @lbert
  Posted:10/04/2006 - 12:55 - in category: politics Malaysia
From the Star:
The Government plans to set up an ombudsman to investigate complaints against the authorities, including ministers and the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA). Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz said the AG's Chambers was conducting a study on the establishment of the independent body.
wow.....can you file a complaint now against Nazri and Baddrudin for their Nazi remarks in parliament?
You probably can, but will they do anything? No way man....if you belong to the ruling clique you can say and do everything, but if you belong to the opposition .... better be aware!

The most developed state - by @lbert
  Posted:09/04/2006 - 23:19 - in category: politics Malaysia
They have flood after flood, hundreds of people have all their belongings destroyed, and don't receive one sen compensation!
The destruct their forest with such a speed that more floods occur. But they give a damn.
They give a shit about forest reserves.
They have a city without cinemas and bars and any other entertainment.
They have a state government that is only there to enrich themselves, they do not function at all.
Their tap water is undrinkable. The pollution of government rubbish dumps is disastrous.
Rivers are polluted by factories, because enforcement looks the other way.
They call themselves a developed state (wohaaaa)

You are only allowed ONE guess which state i am talking about........

Rich minister dont you think... - by @lbert
  Posted:06/04/2006 - 08:55 - in category: politics Malaysia
According to the Star:
Police have detained the thieving Indonesian maids of Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz and recovered the stolen cash and jewelry amounting to about RM350,000.
And that on a ministers salary?? Thats a nice stash of jewelry!
Wow what does he earn a month?
but he already defended himself....
He, however, said that the reported RM350,000 in cash and valuables stolen was in fact just valuables ,including his family heirloom.
"There was no cash." he added.
Than where does the cash come from......
