Wishes for Malaysia Merdeka - by @lbert
  Posted:28/08/2003 - 21:26 - in category: general
A wish list for a truly Malaysia Merdeka.
1. abolishment of all bumiputra rights. All Malaysians are equal.
2. equal representation for at least regional voting.
3. a police force that is independent, and not a slave of the goverment. No hiding of mistakes.
4. all high ranking goverment employees including ministers should declare their wealth in public when taking a job and when leaving a job.
5. total abolishment of business involvement of any political party in malaysia in any kind of business.
6. an education system that is based on merrits not on race.
7. a stop to all religious stuff on all universities. if they want to study how to become a taliban, send them to pakistan or afganistan.
8. a law which forces the Aca to open all investigations for public viewing when completed.
9. a ban on forcing party representatives to vote for what the party wants, because the have a resposibility towards their voters and not only the party.
10. a proper budget on what a pm can spent yearly on foreign trips.
11. a FREE PRESS

Probably can come up with another 100......
But i wish everybody Selamat Hari Merdeka!

I will be outstation from 1 till 20 september, enjoying Thailand and Laos. So expect my next blog around the 21st

The pot and the kettle.... - by @lbert
  Posted:25/08/2003 - 15:54 - in category: politics Malaysia
Who was screaming from the top of the roof that America was unrightfully attacking the poor people of Iraq??
I think to recall it was Mahatir repeating this everyday.
What are the rights in Malaysia of refugees from Acheh you are fleeing the rudeless actions of their central goverments army?
They were trying to register with UNHCR as refugees, yet they were arrested while doing this.
Than an arrogant as always Syed Hamid says there is no ground to give them refuge....
Can't they send this arrogant #$$#### there for a while and see how long he can 'tahan' without his Mig fighters and submarines, and living on a plate of white rice a day!
I dont think people who have there own (though small) piece of land in Acheh will flee if they are not really in danger.
You dont leave everything behind and run.
This goverment should really have a bit more pitty on their neighbours.
They can waste billions on nonsence projects, so a few million for refugees makes no difference.

The Dutch did not succeed in trashing the Achenese, neither will the Indonesian goverment.
At least these people have right to access to some of the billions of gas and petrol money that is taken from there soil.
The central goverment only squanders it in corruption. Pertamina hardly makes profit can you imagine that??
If have never seen love your neighbours better expressed than by the Malaysian goverment.
So shut up about Iraq!

 Putra K(j)aya revisited.... - by @lbert
  Posted:20/08/2003 - 20:35 - in category: politics Malaysia
RTM 1 proudly showed a documentary about Putra Jaya this Monday.
I think the name is wrong and it should be Putra Kaya.
I thought i was watching someting about Kuwait, Brunai or one of those filthy rich countries.
But no it was Malaysia, a country that call itself a developing nation.
Well if this is a developping nation, than why the sheer waste of money in Putra Kaya?
Everything, literally everything must be and is the latest or the most expensive available.
This thing has cost multi billions of ringgit.
Is there nothing else that can improve, or nothing that requires huge sums of money in order to make this country developped?
My mouth fell open by seing all the expensive furniture, wood panelling and you name it.
Offices look like palaces, actually it could have been one of Sadam Housain's palaces....
Here up north the roads have potholes, town planning is a complete disaster, drinking water is terrible.
But Putra Kaya has it all.
Malaysia boleh betul!

 Negara Kita.... - by @lbert
  Posted:19/08/2003 - 13:19 - in category: politics Malaysia
Our country.....well,
Cynthia Gabrel got barred from entering Sarawak (isn't that a part of malaysia or is is on the moon?).
Nice not even free travel in your own country for its own citizens, looks like the former soviet union where they needed travel permits.
Go to Sabah/Sarawak and you gotta bring your passport!! Inside the country

Than if you are a rice smugler watch out, you might disappear under ISA!
As usual the easy way out. Bernas is loosing 270 million a year, because of smuggling??
Probably because it is an unorganised goverment crony company. And maybe secondly it is their destiny as monopoly holder.
Thirdly if so much rice is smuggeled there is definitely something wrong with rice prices in malaysia. Why is it twice as expensive as Thailand? Right, because it is a bumiputra affair, subsidised like hell inefficient like hell, and actually most rice farmers (better say land owners) do nothing else than 'rehat dulu'.
All the work is done by others.... cutting the padi, cleaning the land, and you name it all done by hired workers.
No wonder it is twice as expensive, and on top of that it is also subsidised.
And we wonder why rice smuggling is so profitable....
Bera pulut here RM 4.- and up, in Thailand 1.90. Normal rice here 1.90 up to 3.++. Thailand just 1.00 to 1.10 for super.
So take your pick. Smuggle a few hundred kilos and you make money, imagine by the thousands of kilos and that is what happens.
Efficient malaysia, just to keep the UMNO voting farmers happy.

 Putrajaya....like Brunei - by @lbert
  Posted:10/08/2003 - 22:53 - in category: politics Malaysia
Friday afternoon i saw a documentry on TV1 about the mosque in Putrajaya.
The grandeur and size of the money wasted here is so tremendous that it is hard to describe.
It is more a palace than a place of worship.
Fully aircondioned, having its own backup fascilities for power failure, big enough to supply electricity to a small town.
If you see the materials used, the size, i only can wonder where is the need?
Because Malaysia is a muslem country?? No i dont think so, this is as the rest of Putra Jaya a waste of money on such a grand scale that future generations really will be gratefull to the 'creator' of all this. They will be the once to suffer for all of it because they go to pay for the loans.
Malaysia is still in need for so much, why does this goverment think they rule Brunei?
And than Brunei also almost went bust on all the grandeur of their price Jeffrey...

The national anthem.. - by @lbert
  Posted:07/08/2003 - 12:35 - in category: politics Malaysia
Why oh why are there people running around that want to change the national anthem again?
Is there no place for them in Tanjung Rambutan, are all the rooms full?
A national anthem you dont change. If you really dont like it you choose a new one.
The Malaysian national anthem already has been disgraced by changing it into a speed on which only armies of facist/comunist countries can march.
My national anthem (Holland) still refers to the king of spain. Well Holland kicked him out as a king in the 17th century after 80 years of war.
But it is still in our national anthem, an in 300 years + after noone ever suggested to change is ever. (It has i think 12 stanza...)
A national anthem is mostly a historycal thing, which you simply dont change, not now not EVER. Repect the history.
But maybe they want to fit the Malaysian anthem in the list of the longest, biggest, highest, and so on.
Or change it as Zunar suggested in Malaysiakini into Mahatir-ku.

 OIC....yes i see - by @lbert
  Posted:05/08/2003 - 20:41 - in category: general
5 times a least a day they show you how great it is to have the OIC meeting in KL on 11-18 october.
Mahatir may be proud of it, but who else. This illusive club of islamic countries, with 57 members has at least as i can count 26 of 27 members who have never heard of the word democracy.
They are either ruled by an oligarchy (Saudi Arabia,Kuwait), are pure dictatorial (Libya,Syria,Iran,Sudan and you name it) or they are ruled by totally corrupt regimes (Surinam, and most african countries)
Well thats a nice club to entertain, and really something to be proud of.
I thought that the Koran also preaches equal rights for people and democraty.
Well Mahatir can feel surrounded with 'friends'. Afterall he learned a lot from them and some fascist countries. All to the greater glory of Malaysia which slowly is getting a dictatorial state as well, and corrupt it already is, so thats no problem anymore.
Give the people bread and games... who said that???

Get rich scheme... - by @lbert
  Posted:04/08/2003 - 18:00 - in category: politics Malaysia
Wanne get rich......become a toll consessionaire, thats the way in Malaysia!
The Penang bridge toll has to go up?? Why?
The consessionaire is loosing, and the goverment has to chip in......
Dont make me laugh the Penang toll bridge consessionaires are making millions a year.
Assume 40.000 cars a day at RM 7.00 that is 280.000 a day time 365 is 102 million a year.
The actual figure (no where to be found) is probably DOUBLE!
This as they say the maximum capacity has almost been reached (100.000 a day!)
The bridge is there already 18 years, take the toll at an average of RM 6.-, than there income was RM 1.6 billion Ringgit.
With a concession period ending in the year 2018. That means 15 more years to go.
Thus if the toll goes up to RM 8.00 they grab another 1.75 billion!!
Poor fellows......but who is to blame?
Right, the stupid goverment who gave out the crazy contracts in the first place.
Penang bridge was build at the cost of 850 million Ringgit.
Income during concession period RM 3.35 billion, not a bad investment.
With my estimate of 50% of the probable actual figure the profit is 6.5 billion +!
And who is a major investor in the company (Intria Sdn Bhd), right Malaysia incorporated also known as ministry of financy.
So a toll raise is simply a tax raise! Well someone has to pay for the highest, the widest, the biggest, the greatest show in bolehland.

 Chop,Chop,Chop - by @lbert
  Posted:01/08/2003 - 12:15 - in category: politics Malaysia
It took 100 years+ to grow and 1 minute to bring it down.
The logging scandals in Malaysia are going out of hand anywhere, all for personal benefit of a few cronies or the political parties themselves.
Now Mahatir says he is willing to investigate the UMNO logging scandal in Pahang, if the same is done on PAS in Kelantan and Terengganu.
Have you ever heard more nonsence comming out of the mouth of a party leader??
Why in the first place needs a political party to fatten its coffers by logging the nations property?? How can a political party be involved in business anyway?
That is the biggest scandal ever, UMNO stripping the country for the sake of UMNO.
Than say PAS is doing the same.....(Proof?)
First clean your own stinking mess in UMNO, and don't leave barren soil for the future generation dr M! The venvironment in Malaysia is rapidly detoriating to a stinking heap.
And look in Kedah for the next logging scandal for the coffers of some exco members.
The same goes for the PC laboratory scandal.
All contractors were crony Malay contractors, just filling up their pockets, and leaving the work to others. Than the goverment cries foul if the work stinks..... what can you expect??
The contracts probably were 30% to expensive, thats the money that went in he various pockets. The value of the buildings...what you pay is what you get!
Want to avoid it?? Just an open tender system will do.......but i mean OPEN.
But than the cronies will suffer, and some big boys might go bust. But do you care?, i dont!
