Elections are there.... - by @lbert
  Posted:25/02/2004 - 21:21 - in category: politics Malaysia
No doubt the elections are very close.
Since i don't vote i can only be an observer, but an observer who would like to see some things happen soonest.

After the elections a few things should happen soonest:

1. Several ministers who are badly teinted should totally disappear from the political front, if not be prosecuted
2. The same goes for menteri's besar and exco members.
3. All office bearers should publicly declare their wealth before taking up any positions.
4. Anwar case should be finallised once and for all with a royal pardon.
5. Environmental hazards should be dealt with. Those who violate the law should receive the stiffest penalties possible.
No sweeping under the carpet if it is a 'friendly' company!
6. Perwaja should be declared bankrubt or insolvent (which it is already for years)
7. Printed presses act should be scrapped, ISA abolished at least in its current form.
8. Put a stop to all ridiculous liabel suits for millions in courts. They congest the courts and have no result at all.
9. Have the guts to appoint non-political persons in top posts.
10. Stop all favouratism to anybody, person or company. No special support for bad companies, let them die even if there name is Proton.

And finally enforce laws, not by mouth but by doing so.
Hundreds of laws in this country are in effect but never enforced!
Or they carry a penalty of something no one cares about

Datuk, dato, dap - by @lbert
  Posted:22/02/2004 - 10:33 - in category: politics Malaysia
Som time ago i noticed something funny in this country.
Every cabinet minister, head of a goverment department even every selfrespecting important BN person is a Datuk, Dato, Tan Sri or what ever.
Even the jails are filled with Datuks and Tan Sri's.
But in the opposition (DAP) i dont seem to be able to find a single Datuk.
Is the awarding of a datukship so selective, that if you are an opposition member you cannot get one, in spite of whatever you did for your country?
You may not agree with the opposition but these people also fight for a cause and are dedicated to their vision!
But it seems that in Bolehland only one vision counts, and thats very shortsighted!

Birdflue getting closer.... - by @lbert
  Posted:17/02/2004 - 13:12 - in category: general
In Sungai Petani some wealthy people have found a new hobby to make at least some money out of their unsold properties.
(Eupe?) They use the top floors to attract the swallows to nest in there.
This brings them big $$$ for the bird nests.
Not only they do this in not occupied shop lots, they have the guts to do it in Pekan Lama, Taman Patani Jaya and a few other places.
All this stinking and noisy bird rearing has a connection to a fat Dato who is not yet fat enough.
These birds shit every where around, they are attracted with bird noices all day round.

If bird flue will strike Malaysia, this bird nest rearing is a hap hazard to the whole area, as these birds fly around the whole of SP and maybe further.

Police reports so fat failed to have any result.
Why?? Of course because there are some high people involved.
And high people in Bolehland are not prosecuted, they are protected because they are immune.
Meanwhile, the common folks can succumb, at least they made their money.

If this goes on uncontrolled, SP ends up like Medan (sumatra) surroundings where kampongs are deserted by humand to make way for birds, because their bird nests have value!
Personally i cannot understand what is so healthy about something a bird spitted out, and now humans consume.
Yak....just another fairytail with no proven results at all.
Like monkey brains tiger bones, rino horns and all this rubish.
It is high time to free SP of this pest, even if some Dato + rakan2 will loose money.
It is even more crazy the the goverment is promoting this birdrearing via a website.
http://www.tradezone.com/tradesites/birdsnest.html.

Since birds are not interested in borders of countries man created, it is man who are now at risk.
Why we get SARS, JE, birdflue and all these diseases? Only because of intensive rearing of animals in the most inhumane way you can imagine.
Have you seen the culling of chicken on TV? It is disgusting in one word!
In thailand the are barried alive, in Indonesia they burn them.
But look the way they rear these animals, just like egg- and meat factories.
With such quantities of animals in one spot be it pigs, chicken, goats or whatever, you are asking for trouble, and we can expect one disease after another.
Do these chicken have a life? or are they treated as machines...

It is this intensive rearing that is the danger, so go back to old fashioned animal rearing around the farm.
This is what many action groups in europe are also fighting for.

Peg remains (again) - by @lbert
  Posted:16/02/2004 - 22:02 - in category: politics Malaysia
Again stories today the peg remains....
Well what do you expect, that they will scream from the roof the ringgit will be repegged?
No they will do it overnight and of course inform noone.
Otherwise no importer would pay his bills, and people will start speculating on $$.
My feeling says the peg is either going or will get at least a 20% band to fluctuate.
If not, well just bye bye Malaysia than.
Inefficient companies can not compete in the long run anyway, especially Malaysia's antiquated banking system that is 20 years behind Europe.

 Bumiputra's + schoolteacher - by @lbert
  Posted:11/02/2004 - 21:03 - in category: politics Malaysia
Suhakam today advised the gouverment to give Orang Asli Bumi status.
This is the bloody limit people who are THE Bumi Putra in this country now are going to be offered a bumi status.
Isn't this 45 years to late??
Besides that we live now in the year 2000 isn't is high time that the word bumiputra is scrapped from the Malaysian vocabulairy.
The same way Pribumi went in Indonesia.
It is scandalous that after so many years of independence this british divide and rule system still exists.
I thought Malaysia was a nations where the citizens are Malaysians, and not Bumi or non-Bumi.
But it still seems impossible in Cronaysia.
In an other context i am really fed up with the school teacher mentality of Rais Yatim.
Who the h... he thinks he is?
Are we living in the stone age, why does he have to tell every time that he will decide what is good for Malaysians?
People have brains sir.... we are capable to think for our selves because we also had education, allthough i sometimes wonder what yours was.
If i read through your history you look like a flip-flop.

 Eric Chia - by @lbert
  Posted:09/02/2004 - 20:52 - in category: politics Malaysia
The news today... Eric Chia got arrested by the ACA.
What is this?? Is it the sacrificial lamb?
Well i only believe that corruption is really dismanteld if LL Sikh ,Rafidah and Vellu are arrested.
Eric Chia always said he only acted on directions from the top, so is the big M the next one to be arrested?
Because that is definitely what his lawyers will scream, and they will call the big M to the stand.
Well lets wait and see whether it is for real or another sandiwara.

 Poor Indonesia - by @lbert
  Posted:08/02/2004 - 21:55 - in category: general
I am just back from Indonesia.
There the minister of tourism just drove the last nail into the coffin of the tourism industry by imposing funny visa regulations.
This guy probably hates westerners and loves to see all tourists out of the country.
The argument was, tourists work illigal in Indonesia, the biggest joke ever....
Who want to work for Rp 600-700.000 a month??
This is hardly RM 350.00, any westerner will work for that amount?
Well Thailand will be the laughing party and gladly taking over Indonesia's tourists and add another 3 million to the 18 they already have.

Another story is the smuggling of ramin trees by syndicates from indonesia to the Johore.
Of course Malaysian gouverment denies, but the proof is certainly there. On top of that 20+ Malaysians are arrested in Irian Jaya province for illegal logging activities.
Well the Malaysian timber companies are already stripping the pacific ocean islands bare, are they gonna add Irian Jaya to it.
This is a terrible scandal and these timber companies should be brought to court and be bankrubted.
Whatever money they make for the country they are a bunch of thieves, and this is already going on for years and the Malaysian goverment plays the 3 monkeys.
Sick, sick sick!
