The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index - by @lbert
  Posted:12/03/2008 - 22:34 - in category: travel Malaysia
The 2008 The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index is published.
Malaysia fared ok in this index with 32nd position out of 130 countries. 2007 Arrivals about 17/18 million and they generated about 10 billion US$.
Thailand 42nd.
Indonesia 80th, which is really bad.
They have their visit indonesia year, but expectations are not high, 5 million tourists at most.
Why? Lack of infrastructure, fresh water reliability, availability of doctors, bad telephone service, unreliable airlines, lousy internet access and so on.
I think also a factor is their crazy visa policy, which costs them a few million tourists.
Well they do not want to advance it seems, as i already said many times.

Oh... Number 1 Switserland, 2 Austria, 3 Germany. For Malaysians all 3 unaffordable.....to expensive!

Congratulations to Malaysia - though I do hope we will continue to move up the ranks :)

For Indonesia, I agree that it is a pity because the country is beautiful. And the people are nice too. Bali, Yogyakarta these have the nicest & friendliest ppl I've come across!

Love their logo though :)
